I grew up in Thailand, where after a baby is born, the whole village wraps around the mother. She rests. She heals. She is fed, held, and celebrated — for weeks, sometimes months. Nobody questions it. It's simply what you do for a new mother.
Then I came to the United States — and I was heartbroken by what I saw.
Moms here are expected to bounce back. To do it all. To be strong, independent, and back to "normal" in days. Society tells them to push through — and nobody talks about how utterly alone that feels.
I watched new mothers exhaust themselves while everyone cooed over the baby. I saw dads desperate to help but not knowing where to start. I saw women silently falling apart behind a smile, convinced they were failing — when really, they were just never given the support they deserved.
That's why I created Emmy Nestled. To be your village. Whether it's me, your husband, your mother, your best friend — someone needs to take care of you. Not just the baby. You.
